Press Launch for Artist in Residence at St. Mary the Virgin, Aylesbury

on 23rd November, 2011

As Artist in Residence at St. Mary the Virgin, I will be officially launched on Wednesday 23rd, November!  I always wanted to be shot up in a rocket – so here I go.

From 11am there will be little demonstrations, talks and a mini workshop for any schools and young people who come to visit.

From 2- 4 pm the official bit starts with much chatting, talking and a great display of my work that I have to hand – in fact I am moving most of my studio into the church for the afternoon.

Lots to look forward to in 2012- a Sacred Art half term course for young people; a new school of iconography will be developing and much more.  Keep in touch and subscribe to this blog for more information as time goes on.

Icons of the Apocalypse

Exhibition 4th -27th October, by Constantina Wood, Artist and Iconographer.

St.Martin’s in the Bull Ring, Birmingham, UK.

This exhibition by the artist will be the first of a series over the coming years. Constantina has embarked on illustrating the Book of Revelation through the medium of the traditional Russian technique of iconography for which she has been a practitioner for over eight years.

This first and unique viewing will comprise seven small icons depicting the Messages to the Seven Churches and four larger pieces of stunning illustrations of The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

The Second Horseman of the Apocalypse

The images will be accompanied by meditations and thoughts on the meanings of this imagery as Constantina was working on them.  She hopes to gain new insights that bring a more positive view of the process of change for both individual human beings and the world as a whole.

The artwork will not be for sale as it will form part of a much larger installation eventually.  However, the artist would like to encourage sponsorship of the project as she has been funding it herself. All sponsors will be inscribed in an artist’s book that will belong with the full installation on completion.

Constantina will be producing a series of limited edition signed prints that will be available for sale from her website.  The artist will donate 5% of the profit from all sales of the limited edition prints from this first exhibition for the duration of October 2011 to October 2012 to St. Martin’s.
