About Me

I began my career as an analytical chemist and then found myself painting or drawing every time I gave up work to have my children. Actually, I remember an incredulous first school teacher wondering how I painted an incredible giraffe at the age of six. I was also very fond of devising grand schemes for art works as a young child but never had any self belief as an artist – the creative life is not understood in my family. I am the only one to take the plunge. Being brainy and a member of Mensa – though I have not paid my fee this year – too much cat food to pay for – I was steered into the world of science. This has also been a joy to me and I resent it not. I have a great love of cosmology and all things geeky.
Apart for painting icons and all that goes with this lifestyle, such as my new post as Artist in Residence at the Parish Church of St. Mary’s, Aylesbury, I am currently writing stories and have also completed my first serious novel. My first short story, The Andromeda Machine, is now available on Kindle and written under the name of my alter ego, Alfred O’Meaghan – don’t ask, I have a reason for this name, it’s cryptic. If you figure it out let me know.
I am also following the path of St. Francis as a member of the Tertiary Order – this is a great delight and discovery.
Send me and email.
